Season 6 Submissions

SeriesFest is excited to announce that submissions are now open for Season 6. SeriesFest's competitions provide episodic content creators with the opportunity to have their pilots showcased in front of top industry leaders at the Season 6 festival (June 18-24, 2020).

Submissions will be accepted on a rolling deadline. See individual categories for more details on submission materials, cost and deadlines.

We handle all submissions identically, regardless of which deadline you choose; however, we encourage you to submit as early as possible!

 

Submission Categories

Independent Pilot Competition

Running Time Options: 18-60min

SeriesFest’s Independent Pilot Competition provides a platform for the most innovative pilots out there ranging from 18 to 60 minutes. Submit your pilots in any of the following categories:

  • Drama
  • Comedy
  • Unscripted
  • Animated

These series will compete for various awards including Best Pilot and the illustrious Audience Award.

Digital Short Series

Running Time Options: Less than 15min

Some of the most innovative storytelling now resides in the digital space. SeriesFest is looking to find and honor exciting new digital series with episodes under 15 minutes.

Late Night

Running Time Options: 30min or less

SeriesFest's Late Night Competition is defined as live action or animated programs with a total run time of 4-15 minutes featuring the strange, absurd, comedic, sketch, or “what the hell?” that can run as a mini series or extended seasons.

Up to six pilots will selected and screened at SeriesFest: Season 6. The Late Night Competition winner will be determined by a jury during the festival.

Pitch-A-Thon!

Running Time Options:

For the first time ever, SeriesFest’s annual Pitch-A-Thon! is open for submissions! Independent content creators will have the opportunity to participate in an exclusive live pitch session at SeriesFest: Season 6 in Denver with top television, new media and digital execs in hopes of moving their projects - and careers - forward. Submissions in this category are strictly projects in script phase (unproduced).

HOW IT WORKS

In the weeks leading up to SeriesFest, creators selected for the Pitch-A-Thon, will participate in a two-part workshop to hone their pitch skills. Creators will be paired with an industry mentor as well as participate in an exclusive workshop lead by, Working Artists Group, during the week of June 18, 2020.

Storytellers Initiative: Collegiate Writing Competition

Running Time Options:

SeriesFest is thrilled to launch the sixth season of the Storytellers Initiative. This season we are looking to discover creative, fresh writers at the collegiate level. What excites us most for Season 6 is the opportunity to explore series with a strong point of view and bold characters from the next generation of storytellers. In order to qualify, interested writers must be enrolled in a college or university program and are encouraged to submit pilot scripts with episodes running between 15–30 minutes (minimum 15 - maximum 30 pages) and a Series Format Deck.

HOW IT WORKS

Writers of the winning project will participate will participate in a Storytellers Initiative live read event at SeriesFest: Season 6. Finalists will be flown out to Denver the week of the festival where they will participate in a two-day lab including creative workshops with established industry professionals during the week of June 18, 2020.

Collegiate Creators Spotlight

Running Time Options:

SeriesFest is opening up its Independent Pilot search to collegiate and university students nationwide. Submit your 18-60 minute pilots in any of the following categories:

  • Drama
  • Comedy
  • Unscripted
  • Animated

Students submitting must be currently enrolled in a university or college program. Showcased content creators will be given full festival access badges to participate in SeriesFest: Season 6.

Women Directing Mentorship
